Is Living Near the 606 Still a Draw? A 2-Bedroom Loft at 1740 N. Marshfield in Bucktown

This 2-bedroom triplex loft in the Marshfield Lofts at 1740 N. Marshfield in Bucktown recently came on the market.

This exposed brick and timber corner loft has east and south exposures.

The listing says it has a “newly renovated kitchen” with white cabinets, quartz counter tops and a tile backsplash.

The master bedroom has an attached bathroom with a new vanity.

The second bedroom has 11 foot ceilings.

One bedroom is on the main floor and the second is on the lower level.

There’s also a lofted area.

It has a large balcony.

The loft has the features buyers look for including central air, washer/dryer in the unit and not just one, but two cars parking.

There’s an attached 1-car garage along with an additional parking space on the parking pad in front of the garage. Great for guests?

This building is located across from Walsh Park and the entrance to the fabled 606.

When the 606 first opened, nearby homes were super hot with buyers.

But several years in, does the 606 still drive sales?

Katie Kull Utterback at @Properties has the listing. See the pictures here.

  3. As someone who lives near the 606, I can say.. it’s a draw if you like the 606 or want to bike/walk a dog – but I wouldn’t call it a hot selling feature. It’s not like saying the unit has a panoramic lake view, or that Lincoln Park is your front yard. It’s a nice path. I love that it’s there, it’s really an asset to the hood – but… (unless your balcony/deck literally overlooks the trail) it’s just another property asset. However, when Lincoln Yards connects and the trail is a pedestrian-pleasant way to stroll over to Lincoln Park, Lincoln Yards, an updated Metra/transit hub, along parklands and waterways – it will be an even bigger selling point. Now, if only a time machine…

  6. p.s. I had (really good) sex in this unit a LOOOOONG time ago, like different lifetime ago. Ah, memories.. But that mirror in the corner of the bedroom says this unit still has the same ‘ol karma. Ah, if walls could talk. Now, is that a selling feature?

  7. Fortunately they’ve got two ovens to keep all the food warm to feed their (assuming they’re a couple) two dinner guests.

  8. I like everything about this place except the lack of closet space. I can see someone with a small wardrobe snatching this loft up pretty quickly at this price, assuming the pictures aren’t hiding any unpleasant truths.

  11. I did not have sex in this unit… Which is clearly going to have an effect on the price of this place, and not in a good way
