  1. No surprise here. That place won’t sell until they change the decor and even then the location absolutely sucks which still may prevent it from selling.

  2. I wonder if that price includes the furniture, a new hot tub installation (used hot tubs… YUCK!), and gas masks to shield you from the surrounding industrial grunge.

  3. This place is still way over priced at $700k. It is a 2 bedroom and I would hardly call the neighborhood Bucktown since it’s north of the expressway (although Ecologic Lofts calls itself Bucktown).

This is really go going to take a specific buyer or a price reduction enough where someone would have enough money in the deal to put some work in. I can believe the Realtor is calling this place gorgeous.

  6. I still can’t believe anybody actually lives in surroundings like that. And the last time I checked, cheetah print wasn’t too big during the Renaissance.

I’ll be surprised if this goes for 500.

  8. Upon closer inspection I don’t think the decor is as much renaissance as it is a mix of rococo and other various 18th and 19th century French painting and styles.

  9. “more like 180k tops.”

At 180k, I’d buy it and I (i) own a home, (ii) don’t like condos, (iii) don’t like the decor, and (iv) hate the location.

  10. I can’t get over the leopard print armchairs in the living room. I wouldn’t even know where to buy stuff like that …. aesthetically-confused.com ? Gag-Me-With-A-Spoon Furniture?

  11. This house is just unbelieveably ridiculous at any price. Horrible location. horrible taste. ugh

I don’t see what’s so bad about a used hot tub.. how’s it any different than a used tub in the bathroom? I’m naive b/c i’ve never had one.

  12. Obviously the leopard print armchairs aren’t rococo but the mirror in the bathroom, the ceiling, the paintings, the romantic paintings, the bathroom in general are mostly 18th and 19th century french.

the only thing missing from this place are full sized white tigers.

  13. So this is Siegfried & Roy’s Chicago hang-out? Now it makes sense…

  16. I think this person’s realtor has a very hard job. Would be tough to tell this person ‘Ok! Love the place… but just so it shows slightly better let’s go ahead and put all your stuff in storage, paint the walls beige, and perhaps rent some Crate & Barrel furniture. Oh and haircut your ask by 15%.’

This place obviously had a lot of thought and passion put into it, I know I’d have a hard time accepting that sort of statement (no matter if I bought it for 10k) with that much emotion invested in it. A similar place that I’ve seen is that 3MM place on Milwaukee that has the tattoo shop on the first floor. Lots of bold colors and patterns that while I can see past and just care about space, I know my sig other couldn’t when we were searching.

  17. Excellent, the Bunny Ranch opened a Midwest location. Yeah, baby. The decor alone makes me feel randy.

  18. To make matters worse, that is steps away from one of the most nasty 3-way intersections on the North Side: Damen, Elston & Fullerton. I avoid this area at all costs during daylight hours… especially on the weekends… atrocious…

But, I’m with anon (fto) though. At 180k, I’d still buy this place.

  19. Perhaps the Bunny Ranch *should* buy it — it’s already zoned for business, zero redecorating expenses, few neighbors to upset, and all that traffic in front just means more customers! There’s the small matter of the “Liberty & Justice” out front.

  20. Has anyone actually been to this place? I would love to hear from someone who has been in there, 3000 square feet is huge, curious if the layout feels like 3000 sf.
